Alux meter measures the amount of light that falls on a surface. This amount of light is called illuminance. It is measured in lux.

A lux meter helps you figure out how bright or dim the lux meter measures in an area.
Lux meters are used in areas like photography, movie making, growing plants and making sure workplaces are safe.
How to use a lux meter:
1. Turn on the lux meter. Follow the instructions that come with it.
2. Choose the range on the lux meter. If your lux meter has ranges pick the one that's right for the light level you expect from the lux meter. If you are not sure start with a range on the lux meter.
3. Put the sensor in the spot where you want to measure the light with the lux meter. Make sure it is facing the light or the surface you are measuring with the lux meter.
4. Take a reading with the lux meter. Wait for the lux meter to stabilize then look at the number on the screen of the lux meter. Some lux meters have a button to hold the reading on the lux meter.
5. Write down the reading from the lux meter. Note the lux value from the lux meter. If you need to take measurements repeat the steps in spots or at different times with the lux meter.
6. Turn off the lux meter. This saves battery life of the lux meter.
Using a Lux Meter
Some tips:
* Make sure the sensor is clean and not blocked for readings, from the lux meter.
* Watch out for shadows or reflections that can affect the measurement from the lux meter.
* Calibrate your lux meter regularly as the maker suggests to keep the lux meter accurate.
